The Framehawk Mobile Application Platform architecture uses a client/server design, but with nearly all of the typical client processing workload running in the data center on virtualized Windows or Linux infrastructure.  In addition to reducing mobile device processing requirements, this design improves responsiveness by enabling all required data fetches to occur over high-bandwidth data center connections instead of over the mobile network.

To prevent data leakage, all secured data is rendered on the virtualized infrastructure and then the Framehawk Server Platform grabs only image content from portions of the virtualized application’s framebuffer.  This architecture introduces an active “fire break” between the public mobile networks and sensitive enterprise content because there is simply no means for the mobile device to access raw secure data.

The Framehawk Server Platform can also access unsecured data (e.g. from publicly available sources) and then blend secured and unsecured content sources along with native device UI at the glass of the user’s mobile device.

The Framehawk Lightweight Framebuffer Protocol (LFP) is the glue that makes this architecture not only practical but also superior to alternatives in terms of application responsiveness, security, and flexibility.  With LFP, transmission of the content images and other supporting data is fast and consistent, even over unreliable mobile networks.

The Framehawk architecture is also efficient from an app development standpoint.  By leaving the application heavy lifting back in the data center, the Framehawk architecture reduces the amount of code on the mobile device to the absolute minimum.  And so, in the most simple case, all that is required on the device is code for the user interface and even this is streamlined by way of the Framehawk Client Libraries, which are available for every major mobile device.

Framehawk’s unique architecture enables fully-featured native mobile clients to be developed quickly for multiple devices.  These apps feature the high-fidelity texture of the best mobile apps anywhere combined with an inherently data-secure architecture.
